Club Teleskop

Since the 2013/14 season, the theatre play club “Die Forscher*innen” has been on an expedition. The goal is uncertain. The fellow travellers constantly redefine it. They move on unsteady ground and never know where their search will lead them.

Current production: STRIVE TO BE LAZY (AT)

When is something new really new? A real innovation? Or just an update of what has already existed for a long time? This season, Club Teleskop is looking at innovations, big and small ideas that are changing our world or have changed it in the past. We dare to take a look into the smallest brain twists and into the wide universe and ask ourselves: Where does an idea originate?

  • HARTE ARBEIT (Spielzeit 20/21)

    Season 2020/2021

Once again, the theatre play club “Die Forscher*innen” set out on a research expedition. Its new production revolves around the concepts of work, productivity and growth. 16 young people examine and question goals 8 (“decent work and economic growth”) and 9 (“industry, innovation and infrastructure”) of the 2030 Agenda.

The participants rediscover the world of work that surrounds them, consider and test alternative concepts for the distribution of work and wealth, develop ideas for shaping their future and redefine key terms. What if our income and our work were completely separate from each other? What if we just let the machines do most of our work and split the rest between us? And which innovations do we really need in order to distribute wealth fairly?

  • Vorbei? (Season 19/20)

All episodes from now on at grips.online/vorbei!

This time 17 young people between the ages of 12 and 15 deal with goals 11 and 13 of the 2030 Agenda in the theater play club “Die Forscher*innen”. Accordingly, they dealt with sustainable urban development and climate protection and took new, sometimes unusual perspectives on the topic. They were advised by representatives of the “epiz – Development Pedagogical Information Centre Berlin” and the “UfU – Independent Institute for Environmental Issues”, who were ready for intensive and informative discussions.

And in the middle of the rehearsal process, something extraordinary happened: due to the coronavirus, neither personal rehearsals nor the performances could take place in May 2020. But the rehearsals continued – digitally in video conferences. So the idea arose to develop a radio play in three episodes from a play. In joint digital rehearsals, “Die Forscher*innen” diligently recorded the texts – each individually at home and yet digitally connected to one another.

The Berlin city goddess Alexa is beside herself: Somebody declared a climate emergency – and she really wanted to avoid that. The mayor breaks off his pottery course and comes immediately to the crisis meeting. And the Berliners, too, for whom climate change has always been a long way off, are now shuffling through hail and storms from ignorance to panic to pragmatism, developing their very own emergency plan. Can the city still be saved? Which ideas from other regions of the world could help? And what is the best way to deal with climate destroyers?

A radio play by and with: Alisa, Antonia, Ela, Gil, Helene, Lejs, Leni, Lia, Lilli, Lotte, Mariano, Marten, Matea, Nisa, Sophia, Stella, Zuzia

  • Frieden = ? (Season 17/18)

A wide variety of people gather in the test laboratory for world peace: A thought researcher who can give people inner peace with his machine at the last moment, a journalist who makes people think about peace, a super quiet and super strong superhero, an arms dealer who doesn’t want to believe in peace at all. Their common task: To find a strategy for peace worldwide that should then be applied to the entire earth. Well, will that work?

This time, 13 young people between the ages of 12 and 15 are grappling with the subject of peace in the theater play club “Die Forscher*innen” – and not entirely without prejudice: Frieden? The topic is trite, there will never be world peace anyway, people have always been violent, war has always existed and will always exist...

Scenes and figures emerge in joint improvisations that illuminate the topic from different perspectives. Supported by peace researchers from the Otto Suhr Institute of the Free University of Berlin, who were ready for an intensive and inspiring conversation with the participants.

  • Rotglanz und Diamanten (Season 16/17)

Emma, Eevee and Lilja are normal schoolgirls – with an interesting hobby: They spy. From their control centre, they spy extensively and with appropriate know-how on their neighbourhood. No flower shop, no criminal organisation, no street sweeper is safe from them! Yes, they do not even shy away from THE secret service. But that has consequences that will later lead to their undoing. And suddenly this strange flower pops up that everyone is so crazy about. Suddenly everything seems suspicious...
